Transgender Pro Soccer Player Proposes To Girlfriend On Pitch

The 18 reports that Washington Spirit forward Kumi Yokoyama/横山 久美 proposed to their girlfriend on Audi Field.

Yokoyama, who has been playing in the US National Women’s Soccer League since 2020 after periods in Japan and Germany, revealed they are a transgender man in June, becoming the second openly trans player in the NWLS.

It was their girlfriend who convinced them they should come out of the closet. They then proposed to her on the pitch! Nami said yes!

The National Women’s Soccer League or NWSL is a professional women’s soccer league at the top of the United States league system.
