Bowsette and the Internet’s Obsession with Gender Swapping

image

Mattie Schrader has a good commentary on how the Super Mario Bros introduction of the Toadette upgrade Peachette has caused some truly transphobic memes, but which also confirms the online fascination with gender transformations.

One important side to this story is how fan art put the magic crown that transforms Toadette into Peachette on other characters. On September 19,  @ayyk92 posted a 4-panel comic about the male Bowser character undergoing the same transformation as Toadette. It was this comic that made this story big. Noe fans cannot stop producing new versions of the female “Bowserette”.

Over at CDL Lost gives you the whole story of gender-swapping in the Super Mario Bros universe.
