The separation of humanity into male and female halves belongs to the doctrines and guiding principles that have crossed over into the flesh and blood of every person. Those who occupy themselves uniting opposites such as energy and matter, God and nature, one and all, body and soul, also unmistakably hold fast to the dualism of the sexes and, in fact, the masculine and the feminine are, in themselves, effective realities the duality of which admits no doubt.

But it is a mistake if one imagines that both are two fully separate entities, one from the other; to the contrary, the constantly present merging of both into one, the unending condition of mixing variables that begins with the man’s semen and the woman’s egg, each creating masculine-feminine, hermaphroditic organizations, this monism of the sexes is the core for the genesis and substance of the personality.

The German sexologist, LGBT activist and transgender study pioneer Magnus Hirschfeld in 1910.

100 years ago the leading researcher on homosexuals, crossdressers, crossdreamers and transsexuals dismissed simplistic binary models of sex and gender, and debunked the idea that trans people were mentally ill “fetishists” or “masochists”.

5 Myths About Non-Binary Transition

Very interesting piece from Micah over at Netrois Nonsense. Micah is a non-binary identified transperson.

Micah says this about Micah:

“I’m a cool kid-sized adult, small enough to fit into most tight spaces, making me portable and efficient. By day, I work at a small tech startup. By night, I’m a transgender advocate and educator. Basically, I stare at a computer screen… a lot.”

The five myths Micah dismisses are:

  1. You can’t transition at all if you are non-binary
  2. You cannot medically transition
  3. You cannot socially transition
  4. You cannot legally transition
  5. Nobody will love you

And I just love this paragraph:

“A few days after my surgery, I found myself emotionally vulnerable; I was freaking out about my mangled bloody chest, and frantically questioning my decision. I remember what my father said to me when I asked him “what if this was a mistake, if this is all just some radical idea I bought into?” He responded, “well, why should you buy into that idea?””

Gender neutral passports in UK soon?

sallymolay:

“Many of those who are non-gendered or bi-gendered feel compromised and diminished as a result of inappropriate gender references on their personal identity information.”

This quote is from a motion which calls on the UK Government to issue gender neutral passports to people who identify as non-gender, bi-gender and intersex. The motion has gained support from dozens of MPs.

The motion goes on to state that the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s Document 9303 recognises gender ‘X’ as an alternative to ‘Male’ and ‘Female’ options on Passports, and that countries such as Australia and New Zealand already issue Gender X passports.

Last Chance to Take Part in Survey on Gender Variance!

image

There is only one week left for you to take part in the study of gender variance and cross-gender experiences!

crossdreamers:

You are invited to take part in a survey on gender variance and cross-gender expressions, identities, concepts and fantasies.

The objective is to gain a better insight into the self conception and ideas of gender variant people of all shades and colors.

These include — but are in no way not limited to — crossdressers, crossdreamers, transsexuals, drag queens and drag kings, non-binary identities, queer and genderqueer.

The results will be published on the Crossdreamers blog, but the data will also be made available to researchers.

The survey is completely anonymous. You will not be asked for your name or email address, and we have no way of tracking your real identity.  If you are a minor, please ask your parent or legal guardian before filling out the questionnaire.
