The Independent reports:

A lingerie firm has recruited a black transgender model to help front their latest Photoshop-free ad campaign.

New Zealand brand Lonely has unveiled their newest photo series called Nine of a Kind - un-retouched portraits of influential women from across social media, including trans model Aurel Haize Odogbo, Vogue sex columnist Karley Sciortino, ballerina Anna Collins, artist Ajani Lucid, and Canedo’s own mother, Rogeria.

Telling Trans Stories Beyond “Born In The Wrong Body”

Buzzfeed tells the stories of trans people who do not think of themselves as “trapped in the wrong body”.

Here is Jacob explaining what this means to them:

I’m a genderqueer femme from North Carolina who’s now living in NY and trying to pretend like I’m a city mouse, and my pronouns are they/them. The “traditional” model of trans identity — the idea that trans people have to feel like we’re in the wrong body — really got in the way of me understanding myself as trans. For the longest time, I didn’t think that I counted as trans because I thought you had to hate your body in order to be part of the trans community. Standing in front of the mirror, all on my own, without anyone to judge me, I’m not sure if I’ve ever really had an issue with my body.

To make this perfectly clear: This does not mean that body dysphoria is not real. For many trans people the misalignment between mind and body is very real and extremely painful. But some trans people do not feel that way, and that is OK.
